Muse applying for: John Egbert Why you are choosing the character: I’ve had more experience with John than any of my other muses, and people tend to like my portrayal on him so I figured he would be wise to choose. Beyond that, John is definitely one of my top 3 homestuck characters, and I feel like certain aspects of his character would be fun to explore. Muse’s Age and Where they live: For the time being he’s currently in a small, compacted city in Washington, trying to work his way outside it’s confines to search for his friends, because he just knows that they have to be out there too. He only hopes that they aren’t in a worse condition than himself. The Resistance, or The Ones Above Us?: John is part of The Resistance. Give a loose explanation of their back-story: When the game ended, John thought that was it. They’d all be all right now, they can go home now. But when he was faced with his whole town wiped off the map and chaos ensuing in every direction, it’s as if his heart shattered.

All he has now is the belief that his friends have to be around somewhere. And he’s determined to find them, they’re his top priority. In the meantime, however, he’s trying to help as many people as he is able escape ‘The Ones Above Us’, because he fully realizes that this world is corrupt, and that things will only get worse if nobody makes any move to stand up to it.

So currently, he’s barely getting by in his city. Something that gives him an advantage though, is the strength he seemed to inherit from his Dad. But besides that, he’s in just as bad a position as everyone else. It’s even difficult for him to connect to the internet most days.

An example of your Role-playing: “The thought’s crossed my mind,” he replies carefully, eyes trained on the person in front of him. He tried not to give anything away, still his hands at his side, refusing to so much as sweep his tongue across his lower lip. He couldn’t show just how nervous he truly was, so close to being caught. If that happened, then he would surely be executed on the spot, no questions asked, his very existence becoming nothing more than a hazy memory in the minds of those he’d previously interacted with. “But you know I’d never be that stupid.”

Any other important information regarding you or your character?: John still has his windy powers (though not quite the existence hopping kind). He doesn’t use this if he can help it though, doing so would be too much of a risk. He could too easily be caught, and thus he’d only use it in the most dire of circumstances.

Muse applying for: hal Why you are choosing the character: i miss writing ais and hal is a more aggressive but easily riled sort of glados and i also miss writing her.  Muse’s Age and Where they live: age is a human concept to mark down the level of growth, then deterioration. Hal resides in cyberspace, and is thus ubiquitous, favoring the Tower. However, he lingers about Alpha when called on. The Resistance, or The Ones Above Us? (It’s alright if you are currently undecided, but we’d prefer if you took a side!): The Ones Above Us. Give a loose explanation of their back-story: Think like, Portal, except more rap music. Hal is a splinter of Dirk as he is a creation with a purpose to keep Dirk in touch with others, acting as his secretary of sorts prior to the game. Negative feelings had them drift apart, setting Hal down a long road of turbulent but enlightening self-discovering on his existence as well as his niche in the food chain. With the order the world is in now, he has since moved on and away from Dirk, keeping in touch for the sake of giving him a difficult time while taking a seat among The Ones Above Us, as if though he were a respected entity of his own.

He would at least think as much, even saying he is working with figures such as Alpha, though with the way he is treated and the work he’s being asked to do, he’s not made progress with becoming a properly respected entity.

An example of your Role-playing (One or two paragraphs): Lmao. 

“The good news is these were incredulously easy to make,” you report to your current conversational partner, a being who wished to purchase heavy weaponry for the sake of ‘crowd control’ with how rowdy the Resistance has been lately, “just time consuming due to the wait of pressurizing the gasses into such a compact space. In fact, I’ve already made two.” Due to the fact you were merely an omniscient voice in this dark room lit only by the screens you were utilizing for this meeting to show him schematics he probably didn’t understand, your patron seemed on edge about doing any sort of business with an entity they couldn’t physically damage in the event they came up short on money in an attempt to make off with what they could. They were all alone here with you. And with no way to bring harm to you as a display of dominance. What a powerless position to be in, you think to yourself in simulated pity. How terrible.

Of course, you don’t care at all as you go on to report, “The bad news is as I was transporting them to a holding chamber for you, I dropped the extra one–you did only make a down payment for one after all–and it slipped through the spaces to who knows where. Not even I know how deep that fall is, given how cavernous my little workspace is.” One of the screens clicks over to a simulated diagram of the fall, putting your home into perspective for him in terms of depth as the small red dot representing the dropped canister fell. This was a weapon of mass destruction by all intents and purposes, even if strictly biological. And your guest made it clear he understood the implications of that as he shifted his weight nervously, eyes wide while the screen played. “It hasn’t detonated yet and it’s been several seconds, so that’s a good indicator that maybe while you’re in this building with me, I may need to vent the facility in a moment…or now probably. Until the threat passes, at least. I suggest finishing your payment now, then evacuating.”

Coinciding with your words, a dull rumble sounded floors below your exchange, shaking the desolate building as a signal that your device had finally made substantial contact enough to detonate.

Whoops.

Small interactions like these were amusing sometimes, but you had so much more potential than handling deals and hustling money. LIttle jobs like this hindered your full potential. It’s honestly a mockery of what you were, always being put to work as if though you’ve not taken a step up from being some human’s personal secretary. Designing weapons was a very easy task and sometimes rewarding, but it wasn’t what you craved filling your time with. Fulfillment would have to be found elsewhere in due time, you supposed.

Things that you are not comfortable role-playing: Mind control, hypnotism. Sexual themes with Hal are null and void. Any tags you might want triggered: miND CONTROL, HYPNOTISM. Standard topics of discomfort, slavery, noncon, dubcon, gore.

A master of disguise and incredibly elusive.  Give a loose explanation of their back-story:

Roxanne Lalonde doesn’t remember much about the Before. She doesn’t like to remember, either. It’s a mess of blood and blue skies, so she keeps her gaze strictly forward, and strictly towards helping as many people as she can without ever really touching them. 

A Cheshire-cat sort of figure, she’s commonly found hiding out in the wrecked suburbs, getting forgetful with some of the booze she might have found squirreled away, but certainly not enough to keep her from moving on the next morning. She’s never visited one certain condo in the state of New York, and feels a sense of foreboding towards the state in general, yet she tends to stay in the Northeast, because simultaneously, she can’t bear to leave. 

Roxanne blogs through her phone, one that she’s had for awhile, and managed to rip/code out any tracking devices. It certainly helps that the phone is of almost ancient model by technological Ones-Above-Us standards today (a mere iphone 5, can you imagine.)

Slowly, she grinds the last of the bottle into the ground. Fingerprints absolutely can’t be shown, and just to ensure it, the small fire she lit under the crumbling roof swallows the last bit of evidence that she ever stopped. 

When Roxanne steps out into the dim sunlight, she throws up the stained hood and casts a fervent glance around her. The scarf she couldn’t part with, not for a million years, is wrapped around her waist under the hoodie. When she squints behind her as well, she sighs. It was just another day. Just another day of living.
