#application stage

With the study abroad application (IM SORRY IM TALKING TO MUCH ABOUT THIS IM JUST EXCITED OKAY) but yeah with the study abroad application you get your choice of 3 top schools and you rank them in order of which one you want most, and so on so I was tryiing to figure out what order I wanted to rank them (theres only 3 UK options, so i'm locked into those 3, just need to order them lol) 

Well I was on the websites learning about the schools and just reading about them and campus life stuff about them is giving me culture shock. 

Things different about UK Schools from US Schools(or just UK in general that I didnt know and it surprised me) 

-floors are called levels like level 1, level 2 and such (you should have seen me trying to figure out what they were damn talking about when I read "level 1 of the student union, thought I had entered a video game or something" 

-The dorms are apartment style and you get your own bedroom  my face when on all 3 school websites I read that you get your own bedroom AND BATHROOM for 2 of them, the other one De Montfort (the one I am really hoping to be placed in fyi) has 2 bathrooms per appartment. It's kinda like suite styles here, but nicer and you get your own bathroom. So much nicer than a typical dorm where you share a bathroom with 40 freaking girls 

-THERE ARE BARS IN THE STUDENT UNION. i THINK i'm understanding this correctly, its the same on all 3 schools website so if someone who actually lives over there see's this and this is wrong PLEASE correct me. Dude, I though  our student center was freaking cool as hell cause we had a bowling alley, but no these are freaking fsijdjfosifs. The school in Glasgow has like  floors to their student center and the bottom floor has "coat check and a bar" I mean I knew the drinking age was lower there but holy bejesus. 

Clubs are called Society's- This one shouldnt have thrown me off as much as it did honestly, cause I was in National Honor Soceity in high school and Tri M Music Honor Society in high school, but when i think of a society I think of some  fancy name club that looks good on applications, but I think this is the normal cause on all 3 websites they had pages on the student unions website that listed "societies"and organizations" and it was stuff like "game society" where gamers hung out and played games and stuff, you get my drift

I have to apply for a student visa- Thank you international student section of their websites for telling me this nice little tidbit ECU kindly left off the application and information packet!!! I knew I had to get a passport before I turn in the completed application, but appearently after I get accepted into the study abroad program I have to go to the something something website (I cant remember it was like 6am) and apply for a tier 4 visa to get "entry clearance"  Thank you telling me that cause I so would have not known that, next year gotten all the way to damn Glasgow, Manchester, or Leicester and sure as hell would get my ass deported back to the US. 

When living on campus you still have to pay for internet depending on what university you're at and the biggest data package is 100mb a month. CUTE I use that in a day streaming Doctor Who. Looks like no torrenting for me when I go over. Thank god ECU is taking care of that with their bilateral program. Financial Aid pays for normal ECU tuition and I get the same benefits over there as I would at ECU. They figure out all that crap for me. Thank god one less thing I have to deal with honestly. 

Coin Laundry- I'm giving up free laundry service in exchange for my own bathroom. Im okay with this honestly. I would rather scravenge up coins than deal with other womens period blood. 

From what i can tell there arent "meal plans and dining halls" How the hell thats going to work, I dont know but ECU gets to figure that out not me. But yeah from what I can tell there isnt a "dining hall" that you swipe a card at, thats why we have kitchens in your little appartment on campus you share with like 6 other housemates. Thats kinda neat, not sure how I feel about that yet, I guess i'll have to figure out how I feel when the time comes, but its diffent to say the least XD
