We had the pleasure of recently visiting Demarest Farms and this is one of the few local apple and pumpkin picking farms that Bergen County has to offer! In addition to apple and pumpkin picking, you can also pick peaches in August – save the date for next year! They also have two separate petting zoo‘s, play equipment, lots of backdrops for pictures and movie nights, where visitors can learn the story of Spookley the Square Pumpkin; which talks about kindness and anti-bullying.Â
They, of course; have a farm store, where you can buy not only delicious apple cider donuts, fresh baked pies, ice cream but of course fresh produce; as well as a garden center. They also have a haunted orchard starting on September 28th.
We had an awesome time picking our own apples, with many different kinds available for our picking. We started our visit with a hayride to and from the apple/pumpkin picking area. There were plenty of staff spread across the entire venue, including staff helping you park and cross the crosswalks. Any child instantly feels like Charlotte’s Web feeding the animals. They have ample hand sanitizers available as well. And my little wasn’t too big for the play equipment either! Love the height chart idea, if your looking to make this a regular yearly visit for your family too! We also got an amazing shot of a butterfly while apple picking! They like Demarest Farms too! We will tell you what kind of butterfly it was, which we learned after visiting Tenafly Nature Center – that article is coming soon!
Of course, you can have your own fun too! For $7 per person, you can enjoy everything we did! If you want to attend on Movie Night, see below there is a slightly higher entrance fee.
Move Nights are on September 21th, 28th, and October 5th at 6:45pm. $16 per person, ages 2 and up and includes movie, parking, entrance to the pumpkin patch, a pumpkin of your picking, a hay wagon ride, access to the two petting zoos, playgrounds. Doors open at 5:30pm so you can enjoy all Demarest Farms has to offer before the movie.Â
Things are going to get very spooky this October. For the first time ever, you and your family may experience the Haunted Orchards at Demarest Farm. Featuring a spooky hayride and a bone chilling series of haunted houses filled with ghouls, ghosts and all kinds of scary creatures… you will be transported deep into the orchard to visit the forgotten graveyard nestled within the apple trees.
A special thanks to Jason and Lisa for accommodating our visit. We will be sure to be back and share this amazing venue with as many people as we can.Â
