It didnât surprise Helena Woulfe in the slightest when a first year came to fetch her on behalf of Professors Snape and Dumbledore. Frankly, she was surprised it had taken them that long to get her. By then, she had already had time to finish her lessons and return to her dormitory to change her clothing for the day. Irina was safely tucked away in the hospital wing, not breathing a word to anyone. Helena knew Irina wouldnât dare say anything, not this soon anyway. Besides, Irina would likely want to get revenge on her own. She knew Irina wouldnât speak out against her, and especially not without proof. Helena had made sure that there wasnât a single shred of proof that Irina could cling to. Yet, she knew she would be called into the office, knew that she would be called to answer allegations. There had been too much of a commotion at breakfast for her to completely slide under the radar. Besides, it had been necessary to leave some of the hearts uneaten. Irina had fled from the dining hall like a coward, and naturally, Helena had to follow to appear the good friend. Plus, it gave her the chance to get rid of the hearts since apparently she wasnât going to be able to ingest them all; however, she had eaten as many as she could, before flushing them away in front of Irinaâs eyes.  Â
Even if they did manage to sift through the waste of the school and find what was left, they couldnât prove that she had known. There wasnât a thing that they could do to force her. There wasnât enough evidence to do anything. She had made sure of that. All they could do was ask questions, ask her if she had known the truth about Irinaâs family, ask her why she had eaten the hearts even after she realized they werenât candy. Helena had been planning this for months. By now, she had her story perfectly straight, had rehearsed it enough times to know it by heart, and enough times to add the touches that would make it seem like the truth. It wasnât as though they could force her to take a truth serum, Professor Snape wouldnât allow that, or at least Helena was certain he wouldnât slip it to her in the presence of the Headmaster; there was too great of a risk that other secrets would escape.
Briefly, she wondered if her brother or mother might be in the office as well. It would be nice to see Hector sooner than she had planned, even though she was angry with him for letting the dogs have the hearts first; she wasnât so angry that she didnât wish to see him. But, to her dismay, as she emerged from the staircase and into the office she saw two additional figures, a man that she recognized from the Ministry, and one that she remembered vaguely from school, but no sign of her mother or of Hector. Frankly, she was a little surprised that they hadnât at least summoned her mother as well, not that Helena needed or wanted Drusilla there. She would have rather had Hector. âYou asked to see me Professors?â she said, her blue eyes shifting between the two men that had asked for her presence. âHello Mr. Cartwright, Mr.â she paused, looking at the younger of the other two men. âBradley, isnât it, your sisterâs in Ravenclaw, right?â Helena asked. Â
