Not really. The government lies about everything. It lies about war, it lies about illegal drugs, it lies through political promises. Why wouldn't it indoctrinate people through its schools with theories that only lend to our idea that we need them? In the words of permutationofninjas:

If we're going to learn anything we need to acknowledge that universities aren't conducive to free thought, and that many of the theories universities teach, backed with statistics that were only found to support those theories, are biased and leave out important information. If we're going to see any progress we're going to need to realize that many of the subjects taught in universities can be self-taught at home without a professor with an agenda judging your thoughts and grading your papers, and therefore that a degree doesn't mean that a person is intelligent or even knowledgeable in regards to whatever theory they've been indoctrinated with.
