Wrapped in your cocoon

on a sunny afternoon,

always loved and protected

and not once neglected.

And even if there’s trouble

it can’t destroy this bubble.

Your leg touches mine

and we are both fine.

You kiss me on my cheek

and neither of us grows weak.

What we’ve once had

got lost in the sand.

Looking at you

I see a past

that’s oh so blue.

 And hugging you

I feel a past

that’s oh so true.

Somewhere along the way

I lost myself on a sunny day in May

that spring was hard and bad,

by autumn all I was, was sad.

And now it is spring again,

I am right back where I was then. 

One small step today

must be okay these days.

No one demands me to do more

but myself waiting at the other shore.

The familiar is nice,

but I want more than just one slice

from the cake that we call life.

Never been gone for too long,

never lived in another state,

always felt like this is where I belong,

but now I can barely await

to walk through the gate

and leave the paths I’ve walked each day

with the same sky above.

So, come on let’s get away

and find a new place to love.

 We can always come back

to the places we’ve known

and you don’t have to lack

the feeling of home.

I’ll be right by your side

when experiencing the unknown

and I’ll be your guide

when you think you’re alone,

you’re never on your own.

 But we’ve been too long in one place,

so, come on and let’s go.

Let’s find a new space

that we’ll call home.

Feeling on top of the world,

but actually not being there.

I know it’s true, but I don’t care.
