You don't feel very believable.

You look through the store awkwardly. You're clearly out of place here, and you wonder if maybe letting  the secret slip to one of your friends would be easier and less mortifying. 

A sharp smell reaches your nose and you cough. The troll who  sprayed it looks at you and you stare back.

Shit. Somebody from your hivestem was at the end of the (probably unintentional) attack. You wave and say that you were just leaving and run despite the protests of the other.
