Lemon Dove (Aplopelia larvata)
Medium-sized dark colored dove with a pale face. Light gray corners of the tail are only visible in flight. Sometimes called the “cinnamon dove” because of its mostly brown plumage. The color of some parts varies geographically, most eastern and southern doves have rufous underparts, while western and central doves are gray below. These birds have very wide ranges, and can be found in the montane forests of sub-Saharan Africa. Lemon doves are usually shy, and are more likely to be seen than heard. It is usually not noticed until it noisily flies away. Voice is a series of deep hoots than can vary in speed.
