Alpine was a menace today. He's an ex-stallion that was bred in the past so he can get very studdy. He tried to herd Amba away from me while I was leading her by biting her. I swatted at him with the lead rope several times and he bucked, spun away, then kept charging back at us. Since he was biting Amba I unclipped her and he caused her to stampede down to the bottom of the field. I went back to get her with a dressage whip and that kept him back a bit better. But then once we got to the gate he tried to charge through to go after her. He's always been herd bound, but he's been extra bad lately because of the new geldings Leo and Pirate. They barely look at Amba but Alpine thinks they're out to steal his herd. 🙄 He then tried to jump the fence and was drenched in sweat even though Amba was in the barn and still in his sight. I felt bad for him, but didn't put Amba back because I didn't want to reinforce dangerous behavior.
