What role should science have in our lives?
I believe that science plays a huge role in life everyday. We use the scientific method a lot and we don't even realize it. An example of the scientific method in my life is when I am at basketball practice. When we do our 1-on-1 drill at practice, I think of moves to get around my opponent (hypothesis). Sometimes, these moves may not work depending on who is guarding me. I find out which moves work by trial and error (experimentation). If the move I chose didn't work, I think back to what I did and fix it in my head (analyze data and draw a conclusion). When I finally find a move that works against whoever is guarding me, that means I performed a successful experiment that resulted in me scoring. This is just one example of how the scientific method is used in our daily life. I'm sure there are many more depending on what activities you like to do. Reblog this and let me know how the scientific method applies to your daily life.
What is the proper use of science? Do we make any decisions in everyday life from science?
The proper use of scienceâŚIâve been taught in school the scientific method and that is supposed to be the âproperâ use of science. I agree with it to be honest. Not because itâs what I learned in school but also for the reason being that itâs just the outline for common senseâŚitâs how we are supposed to view questions and problems in life. QuestionâŚguessâŚexperiment (try it)âŚrecord what happensâŚlearn. Itâs the basic outline to problem solving. With that being said, I do agree with the idea of science being used in everyday life. Sure we may not look at objects and am circumstances with the scientific eye (only using formulas, measurements, etc.), but we do take the mind set of experimentingâscience, in a distinct way. As we see things and we want to learn, we use this type of mindset when doing so. Therefore, the usage of science is involved.
I listen to this while I was making supper--pizza, homemade crust, it didn't suck--and they said that, "Art exists to makes us feel special and science is there to tell that we're not." It made me feel proud of my pizza and realize that pizza, well, it's not that big a deal. More to the point, the show mentioned Shakespeare's "What a piece of work is man" speech and I thought of Macbeth's "Out,out, brief candle," and how perfectly Shakespeare captures both sides, and can see, both sides of the argument, and, and he puts us there too.Â
What role should science play in our daily lives?
I believe that science is rarely used in our daily lives, regardless of the fact that we are surrounded by the result of scientific findings. Most of us donât know the scientific method to test our thoughts or even the principles of logic needed to draw accurate conclusions. One may argue that using an oven is a science, but I don't think it is, you're just using something manufactured by the use of science by somebody else.
