Jesse Robinson memorial park located off of the 91 freeway is a landmark in Compton that not only stands out by its huge Olympic Rings in remembrance of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. It is also a dedication to Jesse Robinson, a local advocate for amateur sports, who was honored by having this park named after him when the Summer Olympics were held in Los Angeles in 1984. In front of the rings sits a stone inscribed with a quote from Jesse Robinson: "Wherever I am is my environment. My objective is to leave it better for having been there." These community gardens offer families the chance to learn more about cultivating land to grow their own produce and reap a good harvest.
