Headcanon #2
During the frankish empire era (~500-~800), France, Belgium and HRE were kind of a little trio, always playing togheter. France took the role of their big brother. But when the empire got split in 3, France was separated from the other two and became Francia then France, while HRE and Belgium also became nation themselves.
Since HRE died (killed by France :< ), Germany is kind of "replacing" HRE. He's completing their broken trio and they often get to see each other (because of the EU) like they used to do before with HRE.
I call them the Elysée Trio or EU trio :)
