Here, we show how users may put digital signatures for transactions via the APG8202.

In this demo, we show how the APG8202 increases security when using credit cards for online purchases via its Challenge-Respond Mode. Since a user will need both an OTP generator and a PIN code to make an online purchase, fraudulent purchases become more difficult.

APG8202 Demo 1 — The APG8202 doesn’t just generate security codes. It is also used to authenticate users. Here we show how users can verify their identity by using the APG8202 with a smart card (something the user has) and a PIN code (something that the user knows).

 We will also be posting a series of demos that show the additional layers of security that the APG8202 enables for banking and payment transactions, i.e. authenticating users through smart cards and PIN codes; enabling digital signatures; and generating secure one-time codes.

The APG8202 is capable of One Time Passwords, Challenge-Response Authentication Codes, and Transaction Data Signing (PKI digital signatures) based on EMV cards’ security keys. It is also compliant with major banking, computing and safety standards such as Mastercard® CAP and PLA, VISA DPA and EMV Level 1. It facilitates security in applications by allowing users to generate a one-time password that substitutes for the repetitive input of the same login details that makes them prone to emerging fraud attacks like Card-not-Present (CNP) and Man-in-the-Middle attacks.
