The automobile industry is constantly changing and the products used to make the new vehicles run properly and efficiently change as well. Oil manufacturing is a prime example of such changes.
Consumers today have the option of selecting synthetic oil for their vehicles or conventional oil. There has been much debate over which is better, synthetic or conventional. What exactly is the difference?
Crude oil extracted from the ground, is refined numerous times before it becomes what is used in your vehicle. However, not all of the impurities can be removed in the refining process. These impurities can cause problems in the engines of vehicles. However, synthetic oil is usually man-made from natural gas or alcohol which do not have the impurities of crude oil.
With little or no impurities, synthetic oil resists break-down and can last much longer than standard oil. It withstands higher temperatures and flows more freely in cold temperatures, which means less engine wear during startups in cold weather.
Improved fuel efficiency and horsepower are additional benefits off synthetic oil as well. The impurities from conventional oil can cause sludge build-up in older vehicles which quickly wears out the engine. However, synthetic oil helps to prevent such build-up and ensures longer engine life.
The debate continues concerning switching from synthetic to standard and back again. Check with your vehicle’s manufacturer and follow their recommendations. For newer models, synthetic oil ensures safer, more efficient running vehicles and protects your investment.

These words are usually heard whenever a problem arises in a system; electronic gadgets and computer systems, for example. In the same way that turning devices on and off helps clear problems, the same can be said for industrial plants. This is called a plant turnaround, or just a turnaround – shortened to TAR.
A plant turnaround is a catch-all phrase for multiple events that may require the turning off of a whole plant system or a part of its operation. This event can be caused by planned maintenance and inspection, or it may be the result of power outages.
As with all systems, and industrial plant system can accrue errors over the course of its operation due to wear and tear among other reasons. The difference with computer system errors and industrial plant system errors is that industrial plant system errors cause much more grief in the terms of costs and losses. That is why turning a plant off and on again happens before errors happen. One of the main reasons why plants are turned off is for routine inspection and maintenance of all its parts thoroughly to make the plant run in its most efficient state.
Plant turnarounds are highly important and sensitive. An industrial plant cannot be shut down and restarted without careful planning, as a shutdown will be costly, and inspecting on the go will be a waste of resources. For every critical system, critical thinking is required. After execution, the plant is restarted, having inspected and cleared problems within its system, keeping it running in shape.
Rides, cotton candy, exotic animals and a big top tent are some of the sights that make up a fun-filled day at the circus. What is not seen, however, is the preparation that goes into putting the great event together. Setting up rides and powering equipment takes a tremendous amount of manpower and preparation.
Where Does the Energy Come From?
A circus is often set up away from the bustle of towns so as not to disrupt daily routines. This can pose a problem for supplying electricity and fuel for the lights and rides. Careful planning is needed by the sponsors, as well as the circus, to guarantee a smooth transition in powering the event. Onsite fueling companies are often contracted to fill up generators that keep the show going for days.
Safety Precautions
Each municipality has guidelines in regard to safe handling of mobile refueling and an upcoming event, like a circus, is no exception. The proper paperwork and licensing has to be submitted to authorities before a truck arrives to fill up generators. Authorization to fill on private property has to be provided and a nighttime refueling plan has to be established.
Other concerns, such as costs of fuel and dependability of transport companies, also has to be a part of the planning. Imagine what would happen if the circus was in town and the power was not there. Always choose your refueling specialist with care so the show can go on.
There are times when running out of fuel is not an option. Carrying around gallons of fuel isn’t really a good option too. During these times, the only option is to wing it and hope to reach the nearest gas station while running on empty. In 2013 alone, 600,000 members of the American Automotive Association reported being stuck somewhere with an empty tank.
There are instances when winging it is not a plausible option. In the event of an emergency, err on the safe side. Emergency fuel is just a call away thanks to emergency fueling services all over the country. Most emergency fueling service operations are strategically placed where gas stations are few and far in between, as they are the places where emergency fuel is most needed.
In The Event of a Disaster
Emergency fueling not only helps stranded vehicles; it has proven itself a great ally in the event of a disaster. During widespread power outages, not only does emergency fueling provide for homes and their generators, it provides large amounts of fuel for hospital generators where power is a necessity, especially for those in life support. Emergency fueling services are not well known to the general public, but to the automobile owners, it is a lifesaver.
Large Scale Fueling
Other than hospitals, homes and vehicles, industries sign deals with industries that require constant power for their processes. Airports and database/hosting servers, among others, negotiate with emergency fuel services for large scale fueling, to keep their services for customers up and running even through disasters and fuel deficiency.
About 75% to 90% of a motor oil is made up of a base oil which can come from a variety of feedstocks. Crude oil is the most common feedstock. However, a major American oil company has recently started commercial production of a synthetic motor oil that is produced from natural gas.
To accomplish this a gas-to-liquid process is used. To oversimplify, a molecular chain is created using methane and then the chain is "cut" to the desired length. This doesn't mean crude oil can't be used to get similar results.
The Problem with Crude Oil
The problem with using crude oil is removing impurities. A Canadian company uses a severe hydrocracking process to produce base oils with a 99.9% purity. This process uses temperatures and pressures that reach 750 degrees and 3,000 psig respectively.
Purity matters in a synthetic motor oil
The base oil purity of synthetic motor oil is well over 95%. Contrast this with conventional base oil which has a purity of 70% to 85%. The end result matters because a pure base oil is one reason synthetic motor oils won't degrade at high temperatures, have improved lubrication at low temperatures, reduce engine deposits, and increase fuel efficiency.

One of the most important things to consider in your oil business is proper handling and storage of your lubricants. You need to be aware of the factors that can arise from improper storage and you need to be on guard against on a daily basis. Ensuring that all of your grease items are properly stored is a necessary part of your business expenditures, so here are some steps to consider.
Proper storage begins with proper handling.
The first to appropriate grease storage is to ensure proper handling of all of the materials. First and foremost you have to ensure that the lubricant grease is stored in a cool and dry indoor area with a minimum amount of airborne debris. Next, you should use the oldest container first in order to avoid a higher risk of spoilage. Finally, keep the containers tightly covered and clean them to avoid any intrusion of dirt.
Proper storage will allow for a good temperature and good procedures.
Grease should be brought to an appropriate dispensing temperature being put into use and should be thoroughly cleaned during every step of the process. Moreover, grease handling tools such as spatulas and drum pumps should be cleaned as well in order to prevent debris from contaminating the barrel.
Be aware of the recommended storage time.
All materials have their own unique recommended storage time. For example, lithium greases should be stored no longer than 12 months and calcium greases should be stored only for six months at the max.
On-Site Fueling Means Having Your Fleet Ready To Go To Work, WHY USE ON-SITE FUELING
Your company depends on having your vehicles ready and fueled to leave out on their assignments. It is such a hassle to keep up with charge cards for each vehicle, or making arrangements to get fuel at a specific fuel station. This isn't including all the paperwork you will need to keep up with for taxes. Think about the man hours your company will save by not using productive hours to fuel. If you look at it in production wise; there is the drive to the station, fueling up, visiting with other employees doing the same, oh, and of course you have to visit with the owner of the station. Public relations, right? That's probably an average of an hour.
With on-site fueling, you get that productive hour back where it belongs. The paperwork consists of the one ticket with the list of vehicles they fueled, that you get from the on-site fuel company. It doesn't get simpler than that. Your fleet is fueled and ready to go when your crew gets there, saving your time and money.
WHAT ABOUT OTHER PRODUCTS
Your on-site fuel provider offers a complete line of products; lubricants, chemical cleaners, filters, fuels tanks and more. They can provide you with all your necessary products needed to keep your fleet on the road. They may even suggest a product that will be beneficial to your vehicles.
WHO WILL USE THIS SERVICE
Any company who depends on their vehicles to get the job done. Truck and automotive service centers who need bulk supplies like oil, lubricants and more. On-site fuel companies are prepared for disasters and can arrive on-site to fuel up official vehicles that are needed to service the area. They arrive in all kinds of conditions and environments. It is to your advantage to try on-site fueling.
Not all equipment and vehicles have the luxury of visiting the local gas station for a fill. Construction sites with massive earth movers and bulldozers require fuel on a daily basis when constructing new roads and highways. Generators that service power plants that provide electricity to consumers are another example of equipment than cannot be easily moved.
Keeping Equipment Fueled
Companies that provide on-site fueling are the answer to keeping essential fuel in equipment. Without this type of service, society could become stagnate very quickly. However, driving a small fuel truck to a location is the simple part of this process. Strategic planning for cost and timing is the major factor behind keeping machines running with no down time.
Saving Time and Money
Customers and on-site fuel haulers work closely together in determining a budget and timely deliveries at critical locations. Forecasting the oil market, gaining fuel contracts and pinpointing terminals with fuel comes from years of experience. A balancing act of price, need, customer service and reliability make a good on-site fueling service and will save time and money.
Other industries that may need on-site fueling services include truck fleets, refrigeration units, leased property sites and strip center sites. Whether the need is for on-road diesel, off-road diesel or no-lead gasoline, a well-respected on-site fueling service will keep overhead to a minimum.
