#ao3 rant

Someone praised my work on ao3 talking about how it was really good and how it came off like a love letter. So I was obviously very happy people liked my fic that I put a whole au into so obviously I showed my bf and best friend the comment. But my Bf pointed out some flaws about it and how it came off very AI-like, and I noticed it did. Then I told my best friend and she agreed and she told me since I don't update the chapter regularly since I have a life, the person might put it into ChatGPT or some sort of AI engine and now I'm worried someone might use AI on one of my fics :((

i need writers to stop marking their fics as "complete" when they're actually not. i just encountered three that were all marked as "complete" but then the author's notes all said a variation of "this isn't actually complete, but i can't think of an ending yet."

i get it. i get writer's block. but why are you lying to your readers? i don't just click on completed works, but i have different expectations for them than works in progress. if i click on a fic that is still marked as "incomplete/wip," then i at least know what i'm signing up for.

Hey so could you tag your fics if you have smut scenes? And if you do, please tag dynamics as well, I would really love to avoid fics which are not to my taste.

Some of you assume that every main character is a bottom by default so you dont even tag them as such *sigh* it is not even that important, I dont really feel the smut in general, but the brazen mischaracterisation and how they dont even try to fit to the character - always feels like they want just another bottom character to self insert themselves to. There is a thing called being a side and sexuality is not one thing... or do you prefer mewl-growl, aha, I see you.

They liked my fic.

But they disliked that I put one character in a more favorable light over another, when I stated that i was doing it for the lols. They also dislike that I set the stage for a ship of the more favorable one with their in-universe nemesis. [Granted kinda my fault for not tagging that ship bc it's more of a crush and my personal preference for that character and that particular OTP.]

You like my story but you wish that it could be sth else?

Then, go read that fic. I know there is a fic out there that has the same premise as mine but doesn't have what you disliked about mine.

This is my story. Why come and criticize the choices I made? This is something I made to enjoy for myself and share for others who like what I made to enjoy too.
