Dean hissed as he ducked into an empty room, dark lit and quiet. Headcanon || the why behind Bitten!Melissa part duex
Mkay, got part one up a bit ago, going to shoot for part two, which is the second way Melissa would possibly get bitten: Â Peter being the person he is would see the value in Melissa: Â She's a strong woman, and smart (nurses can't be dumb yo'). Â She has serious connections to both law enforcement, the medical community, and to the current werewolves in Beacon Hills. Â
Even if we look current season, she is Scott's mom, is taking care of Isaac (might as well be his mom), mothers Stiles indiscriminately, don't take shit from anyone, is willing to bend rules when necessary, saved Danny, putting Ethan into her debt, is now likely taking care of Cora (duh, werewolf in the ER, someone's gotta fake the records.)
And if the sneak peak is anything to go on, don't take no shit from no one, not even Deucalion. Â Who wouldn't want a person like that in their pack?
But roll it back a step, lets play what if and say what if Peter had NOT bitten Scott initially.  He's in a nursing home attached to the hospital, right?  Who would he have open access to easily but Melissa?  What if it had been her he bit first, rather than Scott? (yeah, I know, the name of the show is Teen Wolf but still).
Even when he's using Melissa as a pawn, the idea had to cross his mind how useful she would be as a beta. Â Hell, if he could convince her, how well she would do as a potential mate?
Just leavin' that there tho.
I'm going to continue on with this and bring Derek back into the picture. Â What if he'd been the one to open Melissa's eyes to the wider world around them? Â He chose teens that needed a family, needed to be stronger, right? Â He knew/knows that Melissa will fight to protect Scott, and by extension Stiles, Isaac, Lydia, and the entire group to her last breath.Â
He was almost Peter levels of manipulative shortly after getting the Alpha status. Â I could so easily see him showing her the wider wold then using the phrase "How better to protect your son than to be a wolf as well. Â Older, wiser, faster, stronger. Â More controlled."
Deucalion's manipulations are better left for another time though. Â For the mun is tired and need her Winchester four before dealing with the ol' inlaws in the morning.
A chuckle, tired, exasperated, but fond and almost unsurprised around the edges escaped from Melissa before she could stop it, shaking her head at the look she got so often from Stiles. She shook her head again then stepped in, unable to resist hugging her friend, tears escaping as her arms tightened around very real shoulders. "I'd believe it now, Sar. Â God, it's good to see you again." Â

Believe it or not, I think Mama Stilinski and Melissa were actually fairly good friends before she died.  I can see them sitting at the park, watching their two kids  playing at the park, sitting in the kitchen drinking coffee and chatting while Stiles and Scott play Mariokart.  The two families going out for dinner on Friday night (free kids night at the diner.)
Mama Stilinski is the one that patched Melissa up after David hit her for the last time, While Papa Stilinski was turning him over to the Feds. Â
Melissa is the one that Mama asked to please take care of her boys before she died. Â And told Melissa that falling in love with the Sheriff is an easy thing, and gave her blessing to it if it happened.
