I’m REALLY fucking angry at still having to see white supremacist dogwhistles about jews almost every time I see something about palestine. It’s driving me insane how much straight up white nationalist rhetoric about jews is just fucking commonplace in the pro-palestine movement. Like. I cannot count the number of times I’ve seen people use the word “zio” which, in case you didn’t know, is a slur for jews that was either coined or popularized by DAVID FUCKING DUKE former head of the MOTHERFUCKING KKK!!!! It’s just. Words fucking fail me. Anyways, if anyone reading this wants to learn more about jewish oppression is rooted in white supremacy or how to fight antisemitism in the pro-palestine movement here are some resources.
This link is to a zine called, “The Past Didn’t Go Anywhere,” by April Rosenblum. It’s written in 2007 so bits are outdated, and there’s some other parts I quibble with, but it is a FANTASTIC resource about the bare minimum required to not be antisemitic in left-wing spaces. Can’t recommend highly enough, it is truly essential reading for any level of effective jewish allyship.
This is a piece written by Eric K. Ward called, “Skin in the Game: How Antisemitism Animates White Nationalism” It was written very early into the first trump presidency and much of it is written for that time. Things have meaningfully escalated many times over since it was written, so a lot has changed. But, it still effectively and accurately outlines the role of antisemitism in white nationalism. While not the focus of the piece, it should be noted that its role in white nationalism is also its role in white supremacy more generally. For anyone interested in understanding why we jews are inextricably bound up in the fight against white supremacy this is another essential read.
