Let Me Explain
Things that happen in the fictional world, do not excuse things that happen in the real world.
If Donald Trump wanted to take two kids from each state and make them fight to the death to see which state reigns supreme for the next year. Would it be ok and excused because it happened in The Hunger Games?
No.
If your schools principal wanted to leave 3 juniors in charge of teaching the rest of the students how to duel in order to prepare them for a war. Would it be ok and excused because it happened in Harry Potter?
No.
If the government decided to go around and put a bullet in the head of everyone who isn’t neurotypical. Would it be ok and excused because it happened in Divergent?
No.
Why is it ok and excused for these things to happen in the fictional world, but not in the real world?? Because, they are two separate worlds: one is full of real people, who feel real pain, and real emotion. While the other is full of fictional people, who feel fictional pain, and fictional emotion.
So stop telling people to not ship/like something in the fictional world “because it excuses/condones it in the real world.”
Because it doesn’t.
Again!
Things that happen in the fictional world, do not excuse things that happen in the real world.
