SUNNY SOUNDS: A track that is the perfect sonic accompaniment to idyllic summer afternoons (such as the one I'm having today), 'Sunny Days' by Faith Evans is proof that 'sampler' numbers can carve out their own niche appeal, even if they borrow from a really heavy classic.
Al Johnson and Jean Carne's 'I'm Back For More' is soul scripture as it stands, yet Anthony Dent's sample of the track in the serene 'Sunny Days' takes the 1980s number into more contemporary territory, all the while retaining the same atmospheric appeal.
Faith's vocals sound like a breath of fresh air on this classy mid-tempo, which ranks up their with some of her best work. Taken from 1998's 'Keep The Faith', it still sounds awesome a good sixteen years after its initial release.
Enjoy.
