Im not done w GGY (ive been in a reading slump) but one of the biggest like themes and ideas ive picked up is this idea of “Maturity”. Tony believes he is “outgrowing” Ellis in favour of Rab (even though Ellis is behaving like a normal 12 year old boy!!) and tony feels as though his circumstances forced him to grow up faster

And this leans into hc territory, but when Tony talks about the idea of ending his friendship with Ellis because of this difference in maturity- i cant help but wonder what happened to Ellis post GGY and SB/Ruin. How tragic would it be that this little boy loses his two best friends in almost rapid succession (one of whom he knew since he was a little kid!!) and now suddenly being forced to grow up. To be “more mature”…😞
