@tomestobetold answered your ask “[ @despotbled, Albein verse! ] Berkut scoffed, scanning the Zofian...”
Anthiese narrowed her eyes at him. She’d heard about Berkut. Her fiancee’s cousin. A young man who was haughty and jealous, as far as she’d heard. Apparently, he and Albein fought often.
“…Yes,” she stated in a flat, unamused tone. “I’m Princess Anthiese, Crown Heir of Zofia. I take it you are Lord Berkut, my intended’s cousin.”
“Hmpf.” Berkut just frowned at her, refusing to nod. That was too friendly of a gesture for someone affiliated with THAT brute. “That’s right. Lord Berkut, at your service.” It sounded sarcastic, the way he phrased that part.
After a pause, he shook his head. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t treat you with so little regard, even if you are nothing but a Zofian. After all, I’m certain it isn’t your fault you’re in this mess. You must forgive my uncle. He’s got foolish ideals in his head about ‘everlasting peace’ and thinks that by somehow marrying our two countries together, it will solve all of the world’s ills. By that token, I’m certain this marriage arrangement must have been made without your input or knowledge. You have my deepest condolences.”
