DAY 14: HOOTENANNY
The penguins were getting impatient. "Come on Boris, you promised us we would get the best hootenanny of our lives!" "Yeah man! We can sing, but you said there'd be instruments! And food!" "Guys, guys, calm down", pleaded Boris. "Do you see what I have here? Yep, an ocarina! I almost got chomped by a killer whale while trying to get it. I still haven't got the hang of it, but you'll see!" Boris tried desperately to blow the ocarina with his mouth, but he was not exactly dexterous with his front flippers, and his chin was too chubby for him to reach the mouthpiece. "Nah, we shouldn't get too disappointed", muttered one of the penguins, after a few tries. "I mean, everything here has been pretty much the same boring and quiet stuff since the mermaids have disappeared." Suddenly, something emerged from the water, startling everyone but Boris, who was too busy trying to master the ocarina. "D-did you say the mermaids have disappeared here as well?" Maira asked, very shaken. "Yeah, until we saw you", one of the penguins managed to say, while still recovering from the startle. "Oh, glorious day!" exclaimed Boris. "Our hootenanny will indeed be unforgetable with a mermaid! Can you play the ocarina?" "Huh? Me?" "Well, who else here has fingers and lips available to play it?" "B-but I don't know any song...Not in your language, at least." "Awww, come on! Every mermaid knows at least one song!" Maira reflected for a moment. "Weell, there is ONE, I think, though I don't think it would be the most suitable for a hootenanny". "Nah, don't worry", one of the penguins said. "Better one song than no one at all". . . I must say I spent more time than I should on this piece, but I think I'm quite proud of the result!
