In January I met with @louismarch.to and @zerogunviolence.movement to support the end of gun violence in Toronto. Tyjjuan Kidd-Bailey, 20 years old, young, viberant, filled with dreams and energy. January 17th his life ended prematurely due to gang violence! I knew Tyjjuan, we shared the same church growing up. This hit me hard! My condolences go out to his mother and family during this hard time. How much of our youth, our black youth have to die before someone demands change! How many young sons have to be ripped away from their families over violent crimes that plague our community. Yesterday I met with Zero Gun Violence, and we talked for hours on how we can tackle the issues in our community and how together, as a people, is the only way that we can make a real change to our neighborhoods. To kick off this new alliance with Zero Gun Violence; Sunrise has committed $10,000 towards Zero Gun Violence and our war on gun violence in our city. To add to this, we will also be setting up donation boxes in all 25 of our locations. The only way to make change is to create change .
