The Altean population had boomed. Where once he knew the names of every refugee, now he could only spot a few faces in a crowd. Hers was one of them - a result of a few officers and managers expressing vague concerns. If they could even be called concerns. 

Lotor himself wasn’t all that worried, but he didn’t hate the excuse to talk one-on-one with an Altean. Reaffirm who he was in her mind - remind her that he was her savior. That he was just like her...

“It’s been too long since I’ve been here...” he looked around, smiling at the world. 

It may have been synthetic, but it would beautiful all the same. Maybe even more beautiful because of it.

Space shenanigans or not, Zarkon’s reign had done its number on the entire universe. What Lotor had done to her people…it was horrible, but it was only part of the overlying evil and tyranny that infested the cosmos. Their trip in this Altean pod out of the quantum rift had only just begun, and even Keith didn’t know what waited for them on the other side.

Two years had passed for him, but how long had it been outside?

His gaze turned, eyes averted from the Altean girl.

     “So! I’m Hunk. I’m the Yellow, I’m uh--I’m sorry that we met this way and under these circumstances. So, I decided that if you need anything. All you have to do is ask, alright? I would do anything to make you comfortable. I-If that is okay with you?

demeanor   shifts   as   dismal   words   pass   her   lips ,  a   near   forgotten   weight   resettling   ‘ pon   shoulders ;  ( how   many   people   has   HE ,  HIMSELF ,  left   behind ?  how   many   more   before   this   god - forsaken   war   finds   an   E N D ? )     but   she   has   surely   not   approached   him   only   to   have   such   negativity   validated ;  a   smile   breaks   once   more   across   features ,  forced   only   at   minutely   trembling   corners ,

     the last time he ran into altean’s other than allura and coran--- they were ENSLAVING people . but this girl was different , clearly , coming to them in distress and not nearly as threatening . and hey , lance didn’t roll that way ; judge like that . it was actually pretty cool that the altean’s had been thriving all those years , and his curiosity immediately got the better of him as a result . 

     he caught her in the common room , juggling the right questions and phrases inside of his head . ‘ don’t screw this up , lance . ‘

SO ! hey , i think we might have gotten off on the wrong foot . as in , you saw all of us get our butts handed to us--- but we’re INCREDIBLY talented and organized and that was the biproduct of cloneage , which we had no idea was a thing we should be worried at the time , which is why were all caught off guard , and . . . wiped . . . out ? “ you know , come up with excuses with why you are STILL cool despite failing so , so quiznaking hard .
