i totally get where you're coming from with the ace thing. really for all intents and purposes i'm ace but i feel super uncomfortable using the label because i always worry that i'm going to look like a generic "special snowflake" and it's difficult to even trust my own feelings sometimes. I hope you feel more comfortable soon
i’m really sorry you feel that way. i can understand, though. because of the arguably unusual position asexuals are in (in terms of the community on the whole), it’s hard not to feel like people within and outside the community aren’t sneering at you and going eugh they’re one of those. but no matter what anyone tells you, no matter what you read on this site or other sites, your sexuality is totally and completely valid. you’re not deliberately trying to be unique and different and edgy and trendy; no one who explores their identity is. you’re just trying to find out what’s right for you. if it’s calling yourself ace, then that’s the name for you. if it’s something completely different, then it’s still all yours and it still deserves acknowledgement and respect, just like you. i wish that someone had told me all of this when i first started figuring things out. i hope i feel more comfortable, too.
