for your last spiderman drawing, i was wondering how you got that beautiful lighting? it looks so warm and soft, i adore it! just, do you have any tips to achieve that Look? idk pointers. sorry if this has been asked before! :) i adore your art!! its so good!!!
thank you iâm glad you like it! Lighting is still pretty hard for me and iâm not super good at it still but I made a reeeally quick reference to help explain my process when it comes to lighting. I hope it helps a little! This is definitely not professional advice, but just things i think about when i colour.
The base colours are the diffuse colours of the materials (aka the âtrue colourâ, what we see when the subject is placed under pure white light). When it comes to lighting, I think about ambient light as well as the colour and sharpness of my lightsource(s). I recommend experimenting with swatches to make sure these colours harmonize. Some colour theory comes in handy here. Also if it helps, use lower opacity brushes to make sure that the integrity of your base colours are not completely lost (however careful not to abuse this!). Another tip is to play with the levels and hue/saturation until you feel satisfied with what you have. But most importantly!!!! observe the world around you and use photographs for reference! I need to do a lot more of this lol
I hope this wasnât completely useless! Thanks for the question!
