There is always liable to be at least a little bit of angst, though not in the way of fics deliberately marked as Angst-- I love those, but I don't think I could write them very well. If you've been through my work already that's a pretty good indicator of the kind of angst I write. I tend to put characters through a physical wringer with some emotional side effects rather than the other way around. With Rise, I try to keep the tone of the series (or closer to the movie actually, which is a bit darker than the series but still keeps the crack etc) so deep dives into any serious angsty territory are unlikely to happen.

Assuming you've read NRFTW, Donnie's great spaghettification and the need to rebuild himself from scratch and the resulting identity trauma from that is the kind of thing I will definitely write and have fun with. The sequel builds further on that given it was left open-ended, but if you're looking for Leo-specific...

...well, that's also coming, but telling you the nature of it would be incredibly spoilery at this point. Suffice to say, there will almost always be angst, but it will kind of correlate to plot points and not be the plot, if that makes sense? And, of course, I only deal in happy endings, so if anything awful happens, I can guarantee we'll find a way through to the other side. Hope that helps!

As for older twins, there are two wolves inside me. One is definitely of the opinion that Donnie is the older twin. The other is like "oh heck no, the older twin is whoever is funnier at the time, they trade that around." Both work extremely well for me, rofl.

📄What’s a WIP you never finished that you would like to go back and revisit?

The Legacy! (See, this being asked multiple times means I can talk about multiple WIPs.) My actual first entrance into published TMNT fic before I got distracted writing Underdark instead, and then everything else that followed. This is another fic with a lot of moving parts and it's a whole bunch darker than some of mine, because anyone who's reading it will note I'm racking up a body count of the Lost Season acolytes. You see, the Lost Season irritated me for a variety of reasons. For one, we went from four seasons of "ninjas in the shadows/outcasts" to "glowy markings DRAGONS WOO" and they were so fixated on telling a big epic story that... there weren't any real character moments in it for anyone? And everyone glowed and turned into dragons and there was a Tribunal etc, and with the passage of time I'm a bit more tolerant about it, but the fact remained that season 5 had such a different feel to 1-4, which I appreciated much more.

Anyway. Lost season also brought us demon!Shredder and a too trite wrap-up (Karai and Chaplin holding hands and walking off into the sunset? Really?) and also an interesting plot point left unaddressed that, despite all my disappointment with the season in general, niggled at me and said "what if".

And thus with great irony did I go "this is the worst season**. Imma write a whole epic following on from that THANKS BRAIN--" but at least I can have fun upping the stakes and playing with demons and necromantic rituals and possession and, yeah, murdering a bunch of otherwise harmless and likable NPCs for a good cause (everyone else's suffering). This one's fully outlined and involves overseas vacations, my favourite tropes, turtles dressing like Foot Elite and somehow getting away with it, and a Leo v Mikey cage match which I am going to give no context for. If I can get my brain going for this one it will be a lot of fun, and really, as per all my WIPs, I've made headway into a new chapter, so. Wish me luck. <

WELP I won't bother checking those other fandoms then!

The word Krang is used eight times in the next chapter of Infinite Richochet thus far! Mainly in conversation. So rather than spoil the entire thing, here's the most egregious example:

“I remember being attacked by a sentient coat hanger, and I suppose it being Krang-related could inspire some sort of flashback. But I feel fine now. Absolutely nothing wrong, I do not feel the need to join the Krang hivemind and take over the world. In case you were wondering.” “Well, now I’m suspicious. That sounds exactly like what someone taken over by the Krang hivemind would say.”

Ah, man. First, no, it's not too personal! I just delayed long enough to check in with my housemate to make sure he didn't mind me talking about this.

At the moment, I am slowly trying to trawl my way through my Marked For Later list on AO3, which is about 8 pages of TMNT fics and 11 pages of The Untamed! I've mostly read TMNT lately, but yes. Fanfic wise UHHH god I have read so many lately that I'm drowning. Ones that I specifically look forward to updates for:

😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?

You mean like write 13 pages of soft comfort and family banter and then finish with One Line that makes the readers start screaming at me? That kind of thing? Nah. :'D ...by which I mean if I see a chance, I'll take it, because I'm a sadist and my mood is vastly improved if I get to spend much of my day cackling maniacally. As long as people are howling for my blood in a positive way. Playful mean and not actual mean. Because that's...uh. Well, you get it.

✍ Do you have a beta reader?

I do! For TMNT it's @shadowbends - we go way back both in the TMNT fandom and in RP and I knew she was a huge fan of Rise so I reached out to her when I started writing again, and she's been a huge help, not just with correcting my clumsier moments and Australianisms but also a TERRIBLE ENABLER who is full of good ideas. And having someone to bounce ideas off daily is great for keeping the creative flow going.

I have a lovely lady off Tumblr for my FFVII fic and Doomcake over at AO3 for Snowblind. And Zaibatsu is officially betaless, but I do tend to throw snippets of it for feedback to various RK fans on Discord just to check I'm doing okay.

🧐 Do you spend much time researching for your stories?

...SOME. Recently I researched shell repair for turtles because That Movie, and ways to travel into Manhattan from JFK Airport (because I originally wrote a drive in and my US friend said "actually--" at me and-- well look, now I get to write a fight on top of the AirTrain, that sounds like fun) and I always try to know what I'm talking about for a lot of other things, so I'm often looking things up just to make sure I get it right. I still make mistakes, of course, because the internet has many conflicting stories. Circa Underdark I did my best to look up a bunch of stuff on the NY Sewers and even poked at storm drains in my local area to get a feel for them. Injuries I tend to go from personal experience and extrapolation, lmao, but I still have to research stuff like serious nerve damage.

So yeah. It's important to me that I get as many facts right as possible, but when it gets too complex or I get too many conflicting sources I often divert to fuck it we ball and go for the most interesting option to write. (One thing I'm always unsure on is how much turtle physiology to include, because I know ribs etc are built into the shell but I also want not to confuse the average reader, so... it gets a bit dicey there.)
