"Once when I was walking to class, this guy, a complete stranger (Asian), suddenly stopped me and asked what ethnicity I was and where I/my parents are from. Why did he feel the need to know that before ANYTHING else about me? Like my fucking brain? My parents are immigrants, both from China, I’m proud of them. I would have told him myself if he got to know me, but this douche came up to me like it was all that mattered and I felt reduced to my parent’s nationality. That’s why I think it’s rude and shallow to ask."
