The North Star Whisky brand is a Scottish whisky company, I found it only fitting to shoot the backdrop to this whisky shot as somewhere iconically Scottish.  Therefor I took the North Star bottle and my glass to Stirling castle to create the background of my image.

In order to make it look as legit and humorous as possible I put a selfie stick in between the glass and bottle and tilted them towards each other like they were leaning in for a photograph.  

Trying to think of ideas for my lifestyle shoot that hadn’t been don't before was extremely difficult.  Most common whisky lifestyle shots include a glass of whisky, a bar, someone drinking and often dark moody images.

In order to stray completely away from this is looked into types of photographs that are big at the moment.  The one common thing that always came up was the ‘selfie’.

I am extremely happy with the way my composite turned out.  I’ve never been a huge fan of composite images as I feel they look too fake and put together.  However it was great experience to gain these photoshop skills in order to create my image.

I ended up clone stamping my image in order to make more of the lights appear to make the image fuller.

Originally I was thinking the idea of creating my composite using the stars to link into the name of the whisky brand.  However I felt this was too literal.

Whisky is an alcoholic drink people have on nights out, this gave me the idea of shooting the sky line with lights of the city.  Out there in the city people are on nights out drinking whisky.  This also yet again strays from the conventional whisky composite shots.  

Above are my shots taken in the studio.  I am very happy with the way they have turned out and have decided to use the first one as my final creative shot.

I feel like the first image allows the bottle to stand out the most.  I also like the fact that to people who know about whisky will be able to identify the other bottles in the background but penultimately the North Star bottle is always the most important.

I have decided to use this piece of art work by Warhol as the inspiration for my background for the front cover shoot.  I don't want to copy it completely so I will make my own version of this piece.
