“Just the usual. Saving people’s asses, almost getting arrested or shot or both. How bout you?”

“I can’t remember the details very well, but there was this myth I heard of as a boy of this person that would walk the land and everywhere they went, flowers and life would bloom from their footsteps. It was a nice myth, especially on a planet that didn’t have much in the way of wildlife after what the people did to it.”

Wren grumbles, burying her face in the pillows. “Why would I be jealous? He’s a man, and he’s Jace. He couldn’t handle you.”

“I hold a great deal of value in that saying. Most people I come in contact with are not what they say. Either because they are deliberately withholding something or they are simply lying. Quite common in our line of work.”
