She’s snapped, and she’s unstable, but her anger is justified. Her sadness is justified. She’s been pushed over the edge of rationality, but she’s right, and she always was.

This is a girl who has tried so hard her whole life to live up to an ideal, to follow a dream. And not only did her family, her own mother, not support and encourage her, she shopped around to adopt a different daughter that would do it better.

Another daughter who lied and deceived her, dangling a carrot of her dreams and her potential in front of her, leading her on and keeping her hopes up, only to ultimately snatch them all away.

And her mother... never told her. Not even when the Granbelm actually started. Not until it was coming to it’s conclusion. This girl, who did everything she possibly could, who was so desperate for support and approval from someone, anyone, had everyone she loved and trusted lie and mislead her for years, supposedly to protect her, but never once considering her feelings, not offering her any alternatives, not letting her down softly. They just... cast her aside and avoided her.

Her mother, her sister, they all fawned after this new adopted daughter, and she resented them for it, resented Ernesta for it, because she was afraid that her family had replaced her with a better daughter, a daughter more deserving of their love. 

AND SHE WAS RIGHT.

They let her believe the entire time that she had potential that was just not being nurtured, which only deepened the confusion of why they refused to support her, refused to help her achieve her dreams. And every time, this new daughter, this usurper taunted her about how superior she was. With cold, condescending platitudes of kindness and distance, all the while knowing that she herself was the direct cause and the origin of the lie that was driving Anna for years.

It’s no wonder she became so desperate, and so determined.

And with such a cold, heartless, careless reveal, that everything she had worked for, everything she had dreamed for, everything that she strove for and craved and wished for, was all a lie propped up by her entire family since she was a little girl? And that all of her fears, her worries, her insecurities were true?

It’s no surprise she broke. And taking out that on the immediate perpetrator, a guardian that held her back. replaced her, and allowed her to squander her life on a lie because she couldn’t bear to tell her the truth?

That’s just the natural consequence of that lie. Her mother raised her to snap, and she snapped back.
