I feel a slight push from Cara. "Wanna try?"

"Well, I-I'm not much of a singer, Cara!" I stutter back.

"Hey. This is a karaoke bar, nobody will judge." She reassures. "I can walk you up there if you want?"

I think. "Well... golly, I guess I could try!" I take her hand.

"Well lookie here! We've got a taker! What's your name young lady?" The host gives me the microphone.

I look out at the crowd.

"I-I'm- My name- my name is Anna." I stutter, and the mic screeches.

"And would you like to sing the full version or just the second part?"

I look back at my table to see Paul and Cara giving me enthusiastic thumbs up. I take a deep breath.

"The full song, please."

"Alrighty! Lemme get the karaoke booted up and it'll start in a moment!" They turn to the machine and press a few buttons as the song starts. I feel the urge to make an introduction.

"This is dedicated to my- very absent mother." I earn a few chuckles from the crowd.
