I've suddenly become obsessed with making a retelling of Norse mythology in the same vein as Greek retellings.
Am I crazy for that? I mean, I feel like people would have done it by now, no? But I never hear about Norse retellings. It's all always just Greek retellings.
Now I'm not gonna make a musical- cuz I'm actually so trash at that and I don't like musicals enough to put myself through that lmao- But I kinda want to make animatics maybe? idk, in a sense I feel like I should make it a musical cuz musicals go far and hard in the theatre kid fandom lol-
I don't even know where to start tbh. But I'm unironically so obsessed with the idea rn- I love Norse mythology so much, I feel like I'd be able to make something good if I put my mind to it. PLUS I've never read/heard/watched any Greek retellings so I would not be influenced by their storytelling or direction or anything!
My main problem is (I still haven't done the research so I'm not sure about this-) I don't think the drama in Norse tales is anywhere near as interesting as the little I know from the Greek retellings. The main thing about Norse myths is war and bloodshed. Like- not even in an interesting way half of the time, it's just "let's kill stuff for fun" a lot of the time. And it's so revolved around Odin that all of the other gods are really neglected.
I think it's gonna take a lot of work getting around all of that, but I think I may be able to do it.
idk, it's just an idea rn, I'll talk more about it if I go through with it. gimme your thoughts if you have any lol
