It's been a while since I posted an animation here, so... I've wanted to make an animation with this audio for a long time but I didn't have the courage :v

E se O Caminho para El Dorado tivesse ganhado uma continuação?

Foi mais ou menos dessa pergunta que nasceu esta história.

Além do Horizonte Verde se passa cinco anos depois dos acontecimentos de O Caminho para El Dorado e acompanha Miguel, Túlio, Chel e Altivo em uma nova aventura. Desta vez, na costa do Brasil.

Depois de alguns anos vivendo como mercadores e aventureiros, uma tempestade acaba desviando os quatro de sua rota e os leva até uma terra desconhecida para eles, coberta por uma imensa floresta verde e habitada por povos muito diferentes daqueles que encontraram em sua primeira aventura.

É nesse lugar que eles conhecem Araci.

Filha de um cartógrafo português e de uma curandeira tupiniquim, Araci cresceu entre dois mundos e duas culturas. Seu encontro com Miguel acontece quase por acaso, mas, aos poucos, seus caminhos se entrelaçam em meio a conflitos entre aldeias, antigas rivalidades, uma estranha doença e os mistérios de um lugar sagrado escondido no coração da mata.

A história mistura aventura, romance, exploração, fantasia e um pouco de história, tendo como cenário o Brasil das primeiras décadas do século XVI e o encontro entre personagens vindos de mundos muito diferentes.

O Caminho para El Dorado é um filme que tem um lugar muito especial na minha vida. É uma daquelas histórias pelas quais tenho carinho há muitos anos e para a qual sempre gosto de voltar.

E acho que, quando gostamos tanto assim de uma história, é quase inevitável começar a imaginar o que poderia ter acontecido depois. Por isso, gosto de imaginar Além do Horizonte Verde como uma continuação que poderia ter existido naquela época: uma nova aventura em animação 2D, com os mesmos personagens que amo, mas levando-os para outro canto do mundo.

Na verdade, o nosso canto do mundo.

Por aqui, pretendo compartilhar mais sobre a fanfic, seus personagens, minhas inspirações e um pouco do processo de criação.

What if The Road to El Dorado had gotten a sequel?

That was more or less the question that gave birth to this story.

Beyond the Emerald Horizon takes place five years after the events of The Road to El Dorado and follows Miguel, Tulio, Chel, and Altivo on a new adventure. This time, on the coast of Brazil.

After spending a few years living as merchants and adventurers, a storm blows the four of them off course and carries them to a land unknown to them, covered by an immense green forest and inhabited by peoples very different from those they encountered on their first adventure.

It is there that they meet Araci.

The daughter of a Portuguese cartographer and a Tupiniquim healer, Araci grew up between two worlds and two cultures. Her meeting with Miguel happens almost by chance, but little by little, their paths become intertwined amid conflicts between villages, old rivalries, a mysterious illness, and the secrets of a sacred place hidden deep within the forest.

The story blends adventure, romance, exploration, fantasy, and a little bit of history, set against the backdrop of Brazil in the early decades of the 16th century and the meeting of characters who come from very different worlds.

The Road to El Dorado is a movie that holds a very special place in my life. It is one of those stories I have cherished for many years and always love coming back to.

And I think that when we love a story that much, it is almost inevitable to start wondering what might have happened next. That is why I like to imagine Beyond the Emerald Horizon as a sequel that could have existed back then: a new 2D animated adventure with the same characters I love, but taking them to another corner of the world.

Or rather, my corner of the world.

Here, I plan to share more about the fanfic, its characters, my inspirations, and a little bit about the creative process behind it.
