earliest memory :

                                      It was probably not even a real memory, just flashes of impressions, little things and details that kept popping up throughout the years. They were always there like his mother’s coughing and the dust on their cupboard. He remembered laying in bed and hearing the stories his ma told him of miners and farmers and their neighbor's puppy fooling around.               Truth to be told, he didn’t even know anymore what color the dog’s fur had but he knew the stories by heart and still felt a weird heaviness in his chest at the thought that the damned thing drowned.

sweethearts/lovers :

                                         Jayne was a bit slow with that whole feelings thing. Most of his childhood was spent in an odd mix of being a bully and a problem child with the occasional worrisome meltdown thrown in. It was the rumors going around that called him a murderer that made it hard to find friends and kept him distanced from kid’s his age. He had one friend, boy was called Dick and it fitted like the fist to his jaw, but for the longest time, he couldn't afford to have a sweetheart in fear of the being afraid of him.

                                         Back while the other kids went to school, there was one girl, short and cute and she wanted nothing to do with him but he tricked her into being his first kiss. Afterwards he spent years kissing clients and people that paid for this sort of thing but he was never prone to falling in love and starting a relationship.

current job :

                                         It’s less a question if he is happy with the mercenary life because let’s face it, he doesn’t know anything else anymore and has done this for more than 25 years of his life. It’s more the question about being happy with whom he is working atm. Mal and the crew of Serenity. The truth is, some days Jayne wants to rip Mal a new one or just downright kill him and get the money because some jobs either don’t happen or don’t fucking happen but he is happy with where he is and wouldn’t want to work with anybody else.
