Late Father's Day thing for Angus! Because I can!
The hunter closed the cabin door quietly, setting his backpack gently on the floor. He looks around the dim yet cozy home and feels only sadness and regret. He walked slowly into the rest of the house, on the living room couch sat his wife. She was asleep, soft hair fanned out around her head, as lashes flutter with dreams. He doesn't want to wake her so he walks over and kneels down to leave a gentle kiss on her forehead. Pulling the blanket draped over the back of the couch over her so she would be warm. He left her side and made his way upstairs, he had to see his kids. His adventures come at the price of not watching them grow up. The last he had seen them they were no more than infants. Now, they had to be at least 5, 6? How long had it really been? The light at the top of the stars was on, he quickly found their room because of the cracked door to let said light in. He opened the door slowly and peeks in. Sound asleep, the two girls mouths where slightly open, both their hair lay in gentle brown curls of his own color. He knows their eyes also were of his genetics, a brilliant sky blue. Oh, how he wished he could see them. And they had grown, oh lord they have grown beautifully. He walked over to the first child's bed, and fussed with her blanket, softly pulling it up to her chin. Before giving her the same kiss he gave his wife yet softer. He stood up, and walked over to the others bed. And repeated himself, only this time he doesn't stand. He dropped his other knee, and put his head in his hands.
And cried
Cried, for all the lost time. Cried, that his daughters didn't even know his face. Cried, because he can't stay here till the morning, because he can't lead *Him* here. He has to go hide his tracks, and leave nothing behind. He couldn't bare to find that they had been hurt because of him. So he wiped away the tears, stood up, and went back down stairs to gather his things, and disappear into the night once again.
Sorry not sorry
