                      MERCUTIO  certainly  has  a  weird  way  of  distracting  romeo  from  his  WOE  over  his  latest  heartbreak  from  rosaline  by  bringing  him  to  a  capulet  masquerade  themed  ball.  leave  it  to  his  insane  friend  to  come  up  with  such  an  idea.  dressed  as  a  knight  because  knights  and  the  whole  medieval  times  fascinate  a  historic  and  fairytale  lover  like  romeo  himself,   he’s  a  little  reluctant  to  enter  the  event  FULL  of  capu-jerks.  though,  he  does  notice  plenty  other  kids  from  school  and  begins  to  ease  at  the  fact  he  may  filter  out  with  others  who  aren’t  MONTAGUES.  it’s  annoying  that  he  has  to  avoid  rosaline  at  school  already,  now  he’s  doing  the  same  on  a  weekend. 

          ‘  trying  hard  to  control  my  heart ... ’  madonna’s  voice  fills  the  room  and  romeo  can’t  help  but  frown  at  all  the  people  who  are  in  love,  hand  pressed  to  the  wall  he’s  leaning  against.  it’s  hurtful  to  see  others  being  wanted  and  him..   left  feeling  so  incredibly  UNWANTED.  the  only  fun  he  is  having  is  how  rebellious  it  feels,  knowing  if  he  were  to  be  recognized  he’d  immediately  be  kicked  out.  though,  he’s  trying  not  to  get  either  kicked  out  or  sulk  more  than  he  already  has  the  past  two  weeks.  especially  since  he  already  LOST  his  mask  after  trying  the  spicy  wings  on  the  buffet  table.  of  course,  romeo  couldn’t  react  like  any  normal  person  once  his  tongue  started  burning  from  the  seasoning,  however.  he  dunked  his  entire  head  in  a  bucket  of  water  it  freaked  him  out  so  much,  was  convinced  ROSALINE  poisoned  him!  as  extreme  and  irrational,  downright  dramatic--  that  is.  he’s  STILL  hungry,  and  while  he  recognizes  how  paranoid  he  was  he  still  doesn’t  trust  eating  anything  off  these  people.  wandering  throughout  the  shindig,  AWAY  from  all  the  happy  people  in  love,  the  music  fades  into  one  of  michael  jackson’s  newest,  remember  the  time,  and  becomes  muffled  the  further  away  he  gets.
