Okay, so this just happened on Monday. I have to be at the hospital for clinical at 6:30 am, so I set a 5:20 am alarm on Mondays. Well, for whatever reason, I had the volume on my phone turned down waaaaay low (and I’m a super light sleeper, which is why I’m so surprised it didn’t wake me anyway), so I didn’t hear it go off. So the next thing I know, I’m waking up to day light and it’s 6:43 am, which means I’m already late for clinical. The thing is, we are not allowed to be late at all. When we’re late to clinical, we get a 3% deduction from our final grade, which is a HUGE deal. So I ended up calling my professor and I made up this story that I was on the freeway driving to the hospital and my car broke down, and I had to get a neighbor to jump it. She believed me, but I was still late and I still got the 3%. So what can happen after that is you can appeal your 3%. The problem is, car trouble is not one of the reasons that the disciplinary board will revoke a 3% grade deduction. So anyway, long story short, before I could take it to the board to fight it, I just decided to roll with the punch since it was my fault for not hearing my alarm, and I took that hit to my grade. I just didn’t wanna lie about it anymore. So now I’m just gonna have to work a bit harder this semester. :( So, kind of a big deal? Haha, idk!
