The chateau towers above the alleyways, houses and trees - theatrical scenery against which the townspeople have lived their lives for centuries.

Cobweb, Angela Berry

A decorative bowl shaped piece constructed from pulled hot-glass strands, fused and slumped in two stages in the kiln before finishing with partial sand-blasting. Several unique pieces were made by this method, this piece being chosen to advertise an exhibition of 'One-off' Glass at Liberty's, Regent St, London in 1999. Inspired by the movement of hot-glass filaments - like grasses in the wind, or waterweed in the flow of a stream. The final stage in making each bowl was one of suspense - the need to catch that moment in time just before the softening glass became liquid and lost all form. Each bowl freezes a moment in time.

Dancer with Parasol, Angela Berry

From a collection of one-off coloured perfume bottles entitled 'Dancers with Personality', this dancer holds a coloured parasol, and sports a fantasy plumed headdress. The bottle is blown-glass, asymmetric and sandblasted. The parasol is created from thin lead crystal decorated with coloured pate de verre. The spiral stem of the parasol is hand pulled from hot glass and the headdress, which forms the bottle stopper is kiln-formed.

The Corner of the Courtyard, Angela Berry

The painting is not framed in any way. The measurements given are the painted area. The picture is painted in the centre of watercolour paper measuring (ins)11.75(w) x 15.75(h) There are some paint colour tests on the blank margins. A very personal picture! This is what I see from the summerhouse where I work on my watercolours in summer. It shows the corner of my courtyard which is surrounded by high limestone walls, covered by a large vine. A place of tranquility with bees going about their lives in the hollyhocks and other flowers. On the terrace there is a wooden barrel and pitchfork on which hangs my sunhat, a present from my son when he returned from his South American travels. My French courtyard garden provides the sunshine and shadows that define my style. They give a contrast to areas of wet-in-wet technique.

Hidden Tiger, Angela Berry

The picture is for sale unframed and unmounted. This collage came from paper-tearings fragments of paper painted with a mixture of watercolour and pastels - an exploration of the blending of these media in producing 'hot' colours. The fragments are arranged to create an organic hiding place for the tiger whose eye gazes at those who pass. The eye and other parts of the tiger are precisely painted in watercolour, the patterns of his skin creating a camouflage between the collaged fragments. One of a collection of 'Hidden Animals' exhibited in 2015.

The Old Blue Door, Angela Berry

An old shed door with peeling paint and cracking wood stands just ajar, hiding mysterious objects within. Early morning sunlight creates strong shadows worked in pencil on a watercolour base. Chickens are sketched beneath an overhanging peach tree, and hollyhocks lean against the weathered stone building. A dream of the simple life in France come true in the country hamlet where I live.

Creation, Angela Berry

The idea was to try to represent the moment of creation for an audio visual representation using religious music. Star-birth, the big-bang, deep-space and black-holes were all starting points for experiments in manipulating light sources. The picture resulted from light being focused through a number of pin-holes, and was the beginning of a series of pictures involving this method.

Pas de Deux (2), Angela Berry

Stately postures belie the sensuality of dance for this couple, but harmony of line reveals their relationship as they extend limbs in line, and balance - caught in a moment between movements. The colour palette is muted to contrast with the hidden emotions of the dance and the two are bound together by a smoky aura.
