Android Automatic-Astoria(Album Review)
Astoria is the latest project from synthwave/retrowave artist Android Automatic(Michael Gene). This is the latest in a long line of projects he’s released all mainly in the genre of synth and retrowave. This project is that same vain this time being more of a nocturnal effort with music sounding more akin for twilight and dusk hrs of the day. The overall sound to expect is smooth synths four-four beats, and nice melodic melodies. There’s an enchanting aspect to this music as the cover art would suggest. The second record “Fall Colors” is a favorite off the project as it features a deep driving bass, a nice beat and nice flurry of cascading electronics toward the middle of the track. “In The Morning” is another highlight as the instrumental is chill to start but becomes more layered as it moves forward. Each tracks adds to the overall atmosphere none are particularly weak and the peaks on the LP are a good listen. So if you’re in the mood for some retrowave I’d give this a listen as well as Android Automatic’s extensive back catalog.
