Hey so I watched the first 2 ep of the 2013 Russian Sherlock Holmes series on youtube and it's SO GOOD !!. Firstly because I am a sucker for bamf war veteran Dr. John Watson and all slightly more John - centric adaptations, and the actor is so good. Watson is a hot mess in this one. Secondly, Sherlock is also cool, I'd say as good as the Vasily Solomon Sherlock (which is high compliments) and be kept the slutty little glasses so everything's perfect.
The only slight catch in all of this is that I do not speak Russian, and that I am watching this with YouTube auto translation... Anyone has a subtitled version ?

Oh yeah I did this before to see Elementary so when I finish watching the series prepare for this blog to become an altar to Joan Watson.
Ok ok, I know I should have started much earlier, but I am finally watching New Russian Holmes and I am OBSESSED with the first episode. Because among other things (careful, mild spoilers for the first episode):
Watson is so cute with his coat and scarf and bag. it's incredible!!
Holmes is super weird, I love him
he's literally such a nerd. it's perfect!
long staring between them right from the start. and by that I mean long long.
Watson beats up four men by himself! amazing! show stopping!
later he beats up Holmes and then tends to his wounds. I MEAN
just so much eye contact.
Holmes is a fundamentally warm person, Russian adaptions get this so right!!
when asked about his real name, Holmes calls himself basil rathbone. brilliant, incredible!
they sit in front of a fireplace at the end. that's all i need from any adaptation to be honest...
