Hi. A totaly honest question that is not meant to insult you at all. As far as I can tell by your account, you are 30+, unmarried, childless and active in fandoms (nothing bad about that!). Have you ever had to face outside presurres to get married, have children, spend more time in reality, that kind of thing? Basically being pressurized into being, how to say this, regular? Once again I stress that there’s nothing wrong with how you live, I just wonder how/if outside stereotypes affect you
Yes, I’ll be 39 this coming September and I’m happily single and childless, thank you very much. And nope, not really, no pressure there. My mom asks me from time to time when I’ll finally find myself a stud - not just a man but a stud, hehe! - but that’s pretty much it.
Maybe it’s because of my job? I work as a translator, translating mostly fantasy books or thrillers, so I pretty much live in the fandom 24-7? Like, when I visit my boss’ office - once in a blue moon since I work from home - we discuss things like elves and vampires or sword fights and magic, when I go on a business trip, it means interpreting for people like Patricia Briggs or Markus Heitz? It makes my life and my work fun!
Do I feel lonely from time to time? Sure, who doesn’t? But you can be in a steady relationship and still feel lonely. You can have a husband and five kids and still end up alone in your old age *shrugs* But I own a house and a car, I have a great career, a boss who respects me and just enough money for my hobbies - I’m in no way rich but I live a comfortable life. I’m happy :)
