Keep forgetting to post this. But it’s from either Inga Collin’s or rigmor stamp’s book about Andersen, I’m too lazy to check. Either way an anecdote told by Louise Collin (her daughter) who haaated it 😆 This is why I love Mrs Collin, she’s so patient🥹

Anyways I was wrong in my last analysis because I haven't been able to get a readable version of Agnete and the Merman (basically tried to screen translate the scanned fraktur text and failed miserably), Hemming is in fact not the merman, oops. He's just Some Guy on land, which makes more sense as a self insert but is also pretty sad.
