7. accidental

So first off, I kinda twisted the accidental part to make my idea work but I really like how this turned out. And second, uhhh…. This kind of got a lot longer (and more emotional) than I originally intended…. Like nearly a thousand words long. OOPS ^^;;

They’d been sitting in Erwin’s office for the last twohours, at least that’s how it felt to Sayeko. He’d called herself, Levi, Mike,and Hanji for a ‘quick’ meeting before the next day’s expedition and he wasfinally wrapping things up. “Is everything clear? I want as few casualtiesas possible tomorrow.”

“Understood. Now can we go to bed or are you going totalk our ears off for another hour?” Sayeko said, she could feel her eyesbeginning to droop.

Levi huffed a laugh, “Now, Lieutenant, you haven’tforgotten that DADA essay you still need to finish. That’s supposed to beturned in before we leave in the morning.”

Sayeko groaned, slumping in her seat a bit; she actually hadforgotten and it was the worst reminder she could have gotten. She hated havingProfessor Snape for Defence Against the Dark Arts, ever since he’d taken overthe class… no, ever since her promotion he’d been an even worse hard ass about herand Levi’s assignments before an expedition. “Wonderful… I’ll get right onit, thanks for the reminder, sir.” And without even thinking, she sat upand placed a chaste kiss to his lips, smirking at his surprised look. Until ofcourse she remembered where they were. She had just kissed her direct superiorright in front of their fellow officers and Commander Erwin himself. Sayekodidn’t even need a mirror to know her hair had just turned a sickly greenishyellow.

Erwin had his face in his hand while Mike was covering hismouth with his fist as he tried to suppress his laughter. And even though theconsequences of breaking the agreement to keep her and Levi’s relationship a secretright in front of the Commander were sure to be nightmarish, what she was mostworried about in that moment was Hanji’s reaction. Any second now she would bescreaming her head off in celebration, all her theories about the two 'friends’had been right. Sayeko and Levi both held their breath waiting…

But nothing came. Levi slowly turned to look where Hanji hadbeen seated behind them on Erwin’s couch. He breathed a sigh of relief and lightlysmacked Sayeko across the back of her head. “Consider yourself lucky, brat.Shitty Glasses is out cold,” he scowled and crossed his arms across hischest, “Now, Erwin, I get she fucked up, but there’s no way in hell I’mletting you pull Sayeko from my squad with the expedition tomorrow.”

Erwin took a deep breath, rubbing his eyes before leaningback in his chair with an exasperated look. “I’ll let it slide. This time,Lieutenant. Don’t let it happen again. I trust Mike will keep quiet about this;the last thing we need is Zackly catching wind of Levi and Sayeko’srelationship.”

Mike nodded his agreement, “That won’t be a problem,besides, I’d already had my suspicions.” He gave the couple a smug look ashe thumbed his nose.

“Very good. Then you’re all dismissed, make sure to getplenty of rest tonight. I’ll wake Hanji and make sure she gets to her quarters.”

Before she could even respond, Levi was on his feet and pullingher up with him. “Thank you, sir. Have a good night.” And with thathe was dragging her out of Erwin’s office and to his quarters, locking the doorbehind them. By the time he turned back to Sayeko, her hair had brightenedfully to yellow. Levi froze when he took in her stance, her shoulders werehunched and eyes glued to the floor as she fidgeted with her hands. Slowly hestepped towards his girlfriend, grimacing when she flinched at his handreaching for her. “Sayeko… I… Shit. I didn’t mean to scare you. I’m notmad. Baby…” He trailed off as she choked back a sob and he pulled her intoa crushing embrace, feeling her tears spill onto his shirt. Her whole bodyshook as she clung to him and cried.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I fucked up, I wasn’t thinking.I’m so sorry, Levi,” she choked out between sobs and hiccoughs, her hairgetting bluer by the second.

“No, I’m sorry. Sayeko, baby. I never meant to scareyou,” Levi whispered, “I’m not mad. I just wanted to get us out ofthere before Mike could embarrass you. I’m so sorry, baby; I would never hityou, I swear. I… I love you…” He lifted her up so she could wrap her legsaround his middle and carried her to his bed. “Stay here tonight, with me?…You are so important to me, love. So stay. Please? And don’t leave my sidetomorrow. I don’t know what I’d do if something happened to you,” it wasclear that despite struggling to get the words out, he meant every one.

Sayeko nodded, wiping her tear stained face with the back ofher hand. “I,” she paused to sniffle, “I love you too, Levi.I’ll stay, tonight and tomorrow. Always, if you asked me to.”

“Good,” he let a small smile grace his lips as hetook her face in his hands, “I need you, brat.” He kissed her gently,savoring the softness of her lips. Snape and his shitty essay could hang forall Levi cared. Sayeko needed her rest, not to stay up all night finishing it.Levi wrapped her in his arms, kissing her forehead and cheeks. He had to takecare of her, protect her. With every passing day, the very idea of a lifewithout her seemed less and less possible.
