A fun fact about me: I love my Curly Hair so much! And I'm so so Lucky to have gotten my mom's curls! (of the 5 of us kids, I'm the only one who got her hair) Curly Hair is Gorgeous! It's Beautiful! And my hair just does that on its own, like Magic lol. (tho seriously how does it do it lol) My hair just styles itself, I'm so lucky! (I mean I still have to have a curly hair routine and depending on the person and the hair type that can be a lot. It's really not comparable to straight hair care, so not necessarily less work just different) As a guy, the traditional short haircuts and styles for men is so small, but with my curly hair I get to escape all that! My hair automatically stands out, looks good, and styles itself. (the amount of bad haircuts I've gotten that were saved by my curly hair!) It seems crazy to me that relatively recently curly hair was undesirable! When my mom was growing up her curls would've, for example, be combed into a frizzy mess plus she was bullied for her curls because the understanding of curly hair wasn't near where it is today! And now she has beautiful curly hair that she gets to pass on to one of her kids. I love my curly hair and I love that I get to carry on my mom's legacy in this way. And importantly, the current day appreciation for and understanding of curly hair is largely due to the work of Black Women! Remember that!
