i just imagine Peeta tagging along with Greasy Sae and her granddaughter to eat with Katniss for dinner, and they walk inside and see her laying on the floor, unconscious, her features red and puffy from crying. they see Buttercup curled up near her (but not next to her, since he’s still a little weary from the thrown pillows). the two of them exchange a brief look, and with no words said, Greasy Sae offers Peeta a nod and walks herself and her granddaughter home.

Peeta steps closer to her, noticing that she washed herself and changed her clothes from when he saw her earlier in the day. he silently studied her features. then, as gently as he can, he scoops her up into his arms and carries her upstairs to her room with Buttercup, awoken from the movement, trodding at his feet. he tucks her into bed, wanting to stay but knowing he shouldn’t. he gives her hand a gentle squeeze and goes home.

it's so good. There's such an atmosphere of foreboding that I don't see very often in war shows. Band of Brothers really doesn't have this until you get to them being in the plane for D-Day, but that also makes sense. And here's my thought on why

Every sense of foreboding, worry etc about our main trio going off to war is NOT from them. We know from memoirs that Leckie and Sledge didn't really feel such a thing in the states- many young men like them seem to have been excited, eager to fight and go on some grand adventure for glory (and for the Japanese, revenge). Because Band is from the perspective of all of the men themselves- whether officer or enlisted- it keeps away that foreboding feeling until the guys are actually in the plane and about to go into battle. Which makes sense and seems realistic, I think.

The only people who are worried are the PARENTS: Mr. Leckie, Dr. Sledge and his wife, and Mr. Basilone. They are the adults, and these are their CHILDREN that they know may not be coming back. Sledge's is probably the most overt with the heart murmur thing, but we do have some very subtle touches with Leckie and Basilone. Additionally- for sure with Sledge- many of these people are OLD ENOUGH to remember the FIRST WORLD WAR- they may have even witnessed it firsthand (depending on when the Basilones immigrated) or fought in it (like Dr. Sledge and maybe Mr. Leckie, although I'm not sure on him).

The Pacific's main theme is the brutality of war, and its effects on those who fight in it. Having this overall sense of foreboding makes the audience feel nervous- plus, gives foreshadowing to what the reality is going to be, and comes full circle to the end.

This end of course, has Sledge with PTSD, Leckie changed (probably with PTSD too I'm sure), and Basilone gone, leaving the lives of his family/wife changed forever.

My extended family has been teasing us about it. Context: My husband is tone-deaf. I... don’t sing very much. I like to, and I sound decent, when I’m on key, but that doesn’t happen often. (I can hear the notes, and I know when I’m off key, but I can’t manage to fix it.)

A. Does both parents not being musical mean the children should lose out on the art form? No.

B. Does both parents not being musical necessarily mean it’s skipped the children? No.

C. Is learning to play any instrument good for your brain, even with no musical talent? Yes.

But in the meantime, there were changes they were still adjusting to. The procedure to remove the loyalty programming had been successful. There’d been a lot of unbridled rage towards Megatron in those first days of recovery. Not that they weren’t still feeling angry and betrayed. 

It was on the second day post-op that they’d remembered about their Decepticon insignias. They had the symbols removed shortly after. It still didn’t feel right not to see them on each other. Not one of them had dared to utter the word neutral yet. 

The quest to find their Megatron was on pause. He wasn’t their leader anymore, but it’d be a lie to say they hadn’t considered finding him to get revenge for all he’d done to them. It was more of an idle fantasy than a real plan. Something to pass the time and direct their negative emotions at. Because they clearly remembered what happened last time. Attacking Megatron had been the start of it all.
