Ancistrochilus rothschildianus
It's a terrestrial/epiphytic species that is found growing naturally in the African countries of Guinea, Sierra Leone and Uganda. The plant itself is greatly admired for its pseudobulbs. It usually drops its leaves in late autumn/winter just before sending up slender spikes of flowers that are 2-3 inches in size. These flowers are fragrant but carry a slight fishy undertone, similar to the smell of aquarium water.
