Torso of a statue of resting Satyr (left)
Part of the decoration of a Late Roman villa (Patras.) Marble.
The satyr is resting on a tree trunk, a part of which remains on his right thigh. He wears a panther skin across his body. Traces of red color and marks from the sculptor’s tools remain on the surface of the sculpture. Roman copy of a sculpture (2nd century A.D) by Praxiteles dating around 340-330 B.C

The god is depicted standing in a resting posture with his right leg set and the left one relaxed. He wears a chlamys (mantle) covering his back, its one end folding in front of the neck and being fastened on his right shoulder. The other enf covers the bending left forearm that preserves part of the kyrikeion, symbol of the god. Patras. Roman period.
