          this sucked. this sucked, this sucked, this absolutely fucking sucked. it was all marshall could think as he streaked across the sky, his breaths loud in his ears within the confines of the helmet. he couldn't get the image out of his head—himself, eyes wide and scared as radiant black ( he ) had hovered in front of him. no recognition, no nothing. as if he didn't even know who was under the helmet, didn't know that the face underneath was also his. and marshall had raised his fist, the instructions from the voice that had echoed over the land loud in the back of his head, ready to... what? end it?

     but he couldn't. he couldn't. couldn't even try, couldn't test the theory that he wouldn't be able to touch this twisted version of himself anyway. but even the thought fucking sucked. reminded marshall too much of the him from that splintered timeline, the one who'd managed to destroy his whole world. marshall hated it. so he'd run, whipping around and rocketing away.

     so it was with perhaps not the clearest head that he crashed down in front of the first person he saw, landing a little rough but still managing to keep his feet. he just wanted this done. over with. by whoever needed to do it.

this is less so a necessary series of fully-realized threads and more a long, plotty discussion of how they get from point a to point b in a relationship. I think they’re just such an interesting and deceptively complex pair, it would be nice to establish how they develop from a soft meeting to the maturation of a real romantic bond. I mean I also just love when you yell meta at me for 30 min. so maybe I’m just making excuses for that Good Content

You put so much hard work into the characters you write, and past that. You build on them so much, form them into something greater than their original purpose, and make both me and others adore them more. Your headcanons are so spot on, as well, that sometimes I think they’re actual canon. I’m being serious. You’re also very kind, and you’re hardworking as well, and a great artist too!

   In all honesty, Gran hadn't thought about it further (they rarely did). One way or another things always worked out, they made sure of that, and whether that was today or tomorrow or five years from now didn't matter a lot. There's no heroic reasoning behind meeting a former enemy again (in fact, it was rather difficult to sneak away from the crew's watchful eyes to even follow the rumors), nor is there any fighting intent. All there is when they look at him is a painful, burning sensation in their stomach where his hand once pierced and a memory of Hallesena crying.
