I just can’t get over the fact that when I told my parents I was pregnant and they were going to have a granddaughter my dad says, within the same breath, “congratulations! That’s so great, too bad it wasn’t a boy to change things up a little..” I was so LIVID I ended up hanging up on them during my pregnancy reveal phone call (it wasnt in person because it was at the height of covid and we were 900+ miles apart). Ive known my dad has always wanted to have a boy, so much so that when my mom was pregnant with me they didn’t even consider any girl’s names because he was so set on Having A Son, I’ve grown up my WHOLE life knowing I wasn’t as wanted compared to this hypothetical boy that my mom never had.
And now every time I see him interact with my baby girl I hear him say “too bad it’s not a boy” and it feels like I’m seeing my childhood play out in front of me! like I fucking hate men!! Who talks shit like that about their unborn grandchildren? Men!!!!!
